Peoria Portfolio Gets Facelift
|
|
We all know - there's no place like home. Today, nearly 500 apartment homes are safer and more secure thanks to Wallick's development, construction and management teams.
They recently completed the rehabilitation of Wallick's Peoria, Illinois portfolio. The four communities include 428 apartment homes for low-income seniors and 50 apartment homes for low-income families.
Hurlburt House, Parkview Estates, Reservoir Estates and Schlarman House were built around 1979. It was time for a facelift, and the results are a huge success. The $40 million renovation is the largest tax credit rehabilitation in the State of Illinois, outside of the Chicago metro area, and Wallick's largest to date.
There were site-wide renovations at all four communities as well as interior and exterior work on all of the apartments. The project was made possible by the federal 4% Low Income Housing Tax Credit.
Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) attended the recent grand re-opening event where she confirmed her support of the tax credit program.
"While we talk about units and improvements, and how to finance the project, what it's really about is making sure that homes are safe and secure for moms and dads with kids and for seniors with limited means," said CEO Tom Feusse. "The renovations go beyond 'bricks and sticks.' It is about genuine care and putting people first." |
Genuine care. Another answer to the question, "Why Wallick?"
